Frank and I were discussing the exact meaning of scone, so just in case you are unsure... scone [SKOHN, SKON] This Scottish quick bread is said to take it's name from the Stone of Destiny (or Scone), the place where Scottish kings were once crowned. The original triangular-shaped scone was made with oats and griddle-baked. Today's versions are often more flour-based and baked in the oven. They come in various shapes including triangles, rounds, squares, and diamonds (hey also hearts!). Scones can be savory or sweet (or both like these) and are usually eaten for breakfast or tea. I personally think that these to me taste a bit more like a cookie - which is good! :)
