On our way home....

We had a great trip and are now on our way home.  I'm thankful to have a warm (wool) knitting project to keep me warm in the car.
However, today we experienced something pretty scary on the road.  Luckily someone in a car passing us noticed a huge problem with our rear tire on our Scamper.  Thank God we got off in time, and the exit we took even had a garage that we could leave our trailer.  You can see the difference in the wheels above and below.
Lia was pretty upset about leaving the Scamp but I tried to explain how fortunate we are to not have been involved in an accident.  Here she is above after recovering "Love Bug" from our scamper so we could bring her home with us!

A super YUMMY lunch @ BLUE!

Connie and Chris treated (Thank you!!!)  us to a delcious meal at a restaurant that they love at the beach:  Blue.  Almost all of us got their scallop salad!  Above I was just playing around with different color effects!  :)

Another day in Palm Coast!

The morning after Thanksgiving Lia got busy (with Chris accompanying her) on her scooter!
And Connie and I got in a "real" ride - I did NOT have Lia attached to the back of my bike in the trailer!  What a refreshing treat!
Snuggle time with Aunt Connie!
Lia and Chris making everyone's favorite - GUACAMOLE!!!
Here is their Lenai!

Thanksgiving in Palm Coast!!!

What a great time in Palm Coast visiting Connie, Chris and Mom and Dad!!!
This morning Connie took me (while I carted Lia in the trailer) on a tour of their beautiful neighborhood.  Frank went for a run and after some of us climbed into their HOT TUB!!!  How NICE!

Then it was time for Connie and Chris to get down to business:  Thanksgiving!
The meal was awesome as ever!  And they managed to do it with style!  ;)

Of course Lia was soooo happy (as were we all) to see Nana and Poppy!!!

Tybee Island

After a long fun day exploring Savannah's museums, churches, buildings, and riverfront we headed back to Tybee Island for some beach time.

We reached it just in time for a beautiful sunset at the beach!

AND we spotted some dolphins!  Now that was a highlight for us and Lia!  :)

Telfair Academy

Another museum we visited was Telfair Academy.  It was hosting an amazing show that I was hugely impressed with:

Working South: Watercolor Portraits by Mary Whyte

In Working South, renowned watercolorist Mary Whyte captures the essence of vanishing blue-collar professions from across ten states in the American South. These are intimate portraits of workers left behind when jobs are outsourced or replaced by new technology, people who are more related to the “old economy” than the new. They are cotton pickers and textile mill workers, wooden boat builders, crabbers and shrimpers, and tobacco farmers, among many others.

ArtZeum @ Telfair Museum's Jepson Center in Savannah

We had a fantastic morning exploring the Jepson Center in Savannah.  They have a very cool Interactive area for kids (ArtZeum) and we all had so much fun.  Frank and I especially enjoyed the visual self portrait interactive area!!!

Cutie Pie LOVED playing with all of the magnetics!!!

This one captured Lia and I {{{hugging}}}!!!

I LOVE this one of Frank!

This one is kinda crazy.

Climbing the Lighthouse

On Tybee Island - just a short drive from Savannah - there is an old historic lighthouse which we climbed.  Lia did great!  I get a little scared on stairs (and outside where you reach the top and walk around 360 degrees).  It was a beautiful view tho even for a cloudy day.
They had a mini lighthouse where Lia could climb up and smile for the camera.

Savannah, GA

We got in last night and it was pouring down rain.  Today luckily it's not raining now so we went into downtown Savannah for some walking.
We found lots of beautiful squares and a play area for Lia.
We also came across this beautiful church.

Good Morning Asheville!

What a beautiful morning!  We pulled into this camp site last night just before it was getting dark.  You can see we are pretty high up, and we're glad we had light!  But the view this morning is absolutely gorgeous.  I am thrilled to have found, and chosen, this site among several I considered!
They have an area for public seating with the spectacular view!
Later in the day we put our pumpkin turkey together.
Here we are at dusk and Lia hamming it up for the camera.

Eggplants from my garden

With the last of my eggplant I made eggplant parmesan!  It was so good.
Kind of similar to fried zucchini but even more decadent!

A new FAVORITE!!!

So if you know me, you know I love to grow and eat kale (and so does Lia and Frank!).  I have had this recipe for years and not yet tried it.  And I am VERY glad that I did!!!  It's kale sauted with onion and thickened with chicken stock and flour.  Then you add grilled chicken
The crust is traditional flaky pie crust made with butter (what I usually make for pies) but with added cheddar cheese to the crust.
Here they are filled and crimped and ready for baking.
YUM!  Baked and cooling and ready for eating!!!!  The smell of the house while these are baking (and AFTER) is amazing!
