Jeff Ruby's 65th Birthday Party
Tonight we went to Jeff Ruby's party, thanks to Frank who has done sign work and mural work for Mr. Ruby at his restaurants.
It was a huge party, but with out many seats. I went to bring back some food and not only did I come bearing gifts of (amazing) Fillet Mignon Sliders but with a SEAT for Frank. I think he was pretty happy! They were hard to find! :)

Seed Planting Day
What an awesome day we had today! It was 70 degrees and Lia helped me do my seed planting. Yesterday I spent HOURS in the yard, trimming bushes, cleaning up from last fall all over in my gardens. Today we got into the FUN part: planting!!! And also I put out 9 bags of mulch, what a good feeling to have the front yard mulched (altho that was AFTER this seed planting)!
Lia was an EXCELLENT helper, honestly. She picked her favorite seeds - silver queen corn. My days of planting exactly what I want are over. Lia really wanted corn, which I have planted before with success, and also 1 year without. However this year we chose 2 different types of corn and are going to plant it again, hoping for the best.
Lia planted the entire flat of beans, all by herself and she helped
in covering them up with potting mix when she was finished.
Here's a diagram of what we planted today. I forgot to include potatoes in what we will plant also. Another veggie Lia chose was cauliflower. Altho I have planted it before and love it, it is not something that yields much for the space it takes up. However, these days, that might not be something very terrible. We made sure we'll plant LOTS of beans, and they freeze remarkably well. I hope we have room for some of the zinnias I had planned on filling up my garden with!
Frank spent lots of time in the yard and garden today! What a great helper!
And Lia loves her Dad - especially when he is pushing her on the swing!

Girls Dinner
It was just Lia and I for dinner tonight so we decided to do something special.
The weather was really nice so we decided to eat outside in front of the fire!
We really enjoyed girls night out (on the patio). One of our conversations "Mom what signs don't you know that I can show you?" Me: "Asparagus". Then she shows me. Next me: "Sauerkraut" (as I look at our dinner plates). Then she shows me. I have no idea if she made them up but i think maybe not!!! So fun and so funny!

Ballet, Friends and Samosas!
Tonight after ballet we came back to our home for dinner. I made a Samosa Casserole (completely vegetarian) and completely delicious! A friend shared this recipe from Vegetarian Times with me. I amped it up and did a little twist on the original recipe by adding sweet potato and increasing the other veggies vs lots of potatoes. It turned out DELICIOUS! We were so happy that our friends Maya and Tami (vegetarians) enjoyed this dinner with us. Tami brought Peach Chutney and Mint Cilantro yumminess and I served with my Tzatziki also. Oh and naan! What a great meal with great friends!!
After dinner we were out on the swings near our chickens. Great night!!!!
Woo hoo the girls are FLYING!!!
St. Rita's School for the Deaf
This morning was a first. Frank's cousin Debo came into town last night and she wanted to see Lia's preschool. So, not only did I take her to school (per usual) but ALSO Dad AND Debo! It was pretty exciting for Lia! I wish we would have gotten a picture of Debo!
